Concurrent Enrollment
Utah State University and Box Elder County School
District invite qualified students to participate in the cooperative program
called Concurrent Enrollment.
Concurrent Enrollment offers college courses to high school students using
the school district’s qualified teachers and facilities. This enhances the high
school curriculum while allowing eligible students to start their college
studies early.
Students who participate in the program earn high school credits while
concurrently enrolled in Utah State University courses that are taught on the
high school campus. There is no cost to the student other than the purchase of
required textbooks and supplies. Tuition is paid with funding from the Box Elder
School District and the Utah State Legislature.
Concurrent credits are transferable to other state colleges and
universities. Most of the courses fill General Education requirements.
Admission Requirements
Requirements for a student to be enrolled in Concurrent Enrollment
are:
- Junior or Senior status (consult the high school course schedule for individual class requirements)
- A “B” average or better in all high school course work (3.0 or higher GPA)
- Recommendation of the instructor and/or counselor as being capable of doing college-level work
- Utah State University prerequisites are required
Registration & Policies
Students sign up for concurrent classes at the same time they register for
their regular high school classes. The Utah State University registration form
will be filled out during the first week of class under the direction of the
instructor.
Concurrent enrollment begins a student’s college experience and creates a
permanent college transcript. Utah State University drop/add procedures differ
from high school requirements and must be adhered to closely. Failure to do so
may negatively impact a student’s permanent college transcript and academic
standing. Please review college GPA requirements and policies thoroughly
regarding academic suspension and probation.
Ordering Textbooks
A few weeks before classes begin students will receive a letter from Utah
State University listing the required textbook(s) and giving instructions on how
to purchase their books on the Utah State University Brigham City campus.
