The Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in Business is designed to prepare graduates for administrative positions in business, government, and other institutions. The degree provides a good mix of breadth and depth in the fundamental areas of business. Courses are offered weeknights each semester via interactive broadcast delivery to enable nontraditional students who work full or part time to progress toward completion of their degree. Many courses are also available online or through Independent Study.

Students complete 27 to 31 credit hours of required University Studies (general education) courses. These along with elective credits are available through Utah State University Regional Campuses and Centers located throughout the state or through on-line classes and independent study. They may also be available through a community college in your area. An advisor at your local USU Regional Campus or Center can help you put together a plan to complete these requirements.

The business curriculum is offered via interactive broadcast delivery on a schedule that cycles approximately every two years. The curriculum provides a broad foundation in the business disciplines of accounting, finance, economics, marketing, management, and business information systems. Beyond these foundation courses students complete an additional 18 credits of advanced business or other approved coursework which may also include applied internship experience.

As noted above, the Bachelor’s of Science is a general business degree, and the entire curriculum is available at USU Regional Campuses and Centers. Students seeking more specialized Bachelor’s degrees in Accounting, Finance, Business Information Systems, Management and Human Resources, Marketing or Operations Management offered at the USU Logan Campus, can generally complete much of their coursework at a Regional Campus, before transferring to the Logan Campus to complete their degree. Students intending to transfer to the Logan Campus, should work very closely with an advisor at the Huntsman School of Business Career Education Opportunities Center (Telephone: 435-797-2272), because there are strict admission requirements for on-campus Huntsman School of Business programs. When contacting the CEO Center, please indicate that you are a distance education student to ensure you are assigned to the appropriate advisor.
